The 4th of July—The Birth of the American Dream
Today we celebrate our independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain by the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. It’s a day to honor our Founding Fathers for their vision and courage. They understood what a free people in a land of plenty could become and accomplish. As nation builders, they gave future generations the opportunity to live the American Dream. But, our freedom and dreams come with a price—a willingness to preserve and protect what we have today so that future generations can live their dreams. For that, let’s also acknowledge and thank the men and women who volunteer to serve our country. How can we thank them? One way is to support the International Franchise Association’s VetFran program. As a member of the VetFran committee, our Operation Enduring Opportunity initiative has set a goal to place 75,000 veterans and wounded warriors and their spouses in franchising as franchisees or as franchise employees. I urge you to get involved. First, you can reach out to transitioning veterans with an incentive to become franchise owners. Many franchisors offer a franchise fee discount. Second, hire vets. I keep saying that nowhere else are you going to find employees who were willing to take a bullet for their last employer. Third, advocate for our VetFran program in your marketing materials, to your franchise owners and in the communities you serve. We need your support if we’re going to reach our 75,000 goal. If you want to make a difference, contact me and I’ll show you how your support can help deserving vets live what we’re celebrating today: The birth of the American Dream.
