Franchise Industry Leader Greg Tanner

shotGreg Tanner is a franchise industry veteran. He taught himself about franchising after serving in the Army in the military police. Greg began his franchise career in publishing and has been successful in a variety of industries including automotive repair, car and truck rental, fast food, and as National Director – Franchising for Aaron’s.

He remains close to his military roots supporting the Wounded Warrior Project and serving on the International Franchise Association’s VetFran Committee. Greg led Georgia franchisors in launching the IFA’s Operation Enduring Opportunity initiative at a press conference November 10, 2011 at the Georgia state Capitol. He was the only franchisor invited to the White House November 21, 2011 to witness President Obama sign the American Jobs Act bill that offers tax credits to businesses that hire veterans. Greg was on the International Franchise Association’s Panel of the Pros during its annual convention in February 2012.

On March 28 he appeared on The Today Show aboard the USS Intrepid in conjunction with the network’s “Hiring Our Heroes” initiative and met with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Dr. Jill Biden of the White House Joining Forces effort, and Medal of Honor recipient and Marine veteran, Dakota Meyer. Greg returned to the White House April 17, to lobby on behalf of the rent-to-own industry. On September 10, he was in Washington to attend the IFA’s Public Affairs Conference, where his video “Lady Liberty” won the “Franchising Votes” award for best Public Service Announcement.

He returned to the Georgia state Capitol on November 8, to update the community on the progress of Operation Enduring Opportunity. On November 14, he represented Aaron’s in Washington as a finalist at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual Hiring Our Heroes Awards gala. Greg was named one of the Top 20 people to watch in 2012 by Franchise Times magazine.
